As a “Christian” nation, there is something very important lacking. See for yourself in this verse from Paul’s second letter to the Church in Corinth. “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15) This is very uncomfortable for me to do. I actually love my life in this world a bit too much. My life may be described as ‘luke warm’ and that makes me totally unworthy as a human. I cannot understand why My Lord Jesus has left me here with marching orders to ‘lift the shade of my prodigal life’ in this blog. Talk about mixed emotions! These words do not come easily. It is a struggle to take a biblical teaching and do an expository since I am talking to me, first. What Paul is saying in this letter is simply this: “Since Jesus paid the price for all my sins, totally and completely, I must DIE to all my sins, also. He did. Now, it’s up to me to do so, totally and completely, every second of ever day of my life. Sadly, I fail. But, I must not wallow in my trash heap, I must rise up in the strength and absolution of Christ, holy and forgiven, to try again. God doesn’t expect more from any Christian. We may only attain righteousness through our belief in WHO makes us so. It’s a process of step-by-step-with-Jesus-through-the-company-of-the-Holy Spirit. That’s what I believe and that’s what keeps me ‘keepin’ ON’, donchaknow.
And that’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates. AMEN
