As for ME…..

“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing (2 Thessalonians 1:3)

Until another person demonstrates otherwise, I can only consider them to be my brother or sister in Christ. Scripture says, “by their fruits, you shall know them” and that says the walk and talk of another will reveal the truth. This gives me pause in reaching consulions about another without knowing them, personally.  I was taught not to do or say certain things in public.  As a teacher and broadcaster, I was very careful of what I said, yet as an actor, I spoke whatever the script told me to say. AS a bi-vocational minister of music, I would never have uttered any words that would insult anyone. I knew all the wrong words and sadly, I uttered them from time to time, but never as a teacher, broadcaster or minister. Otherwise, yep….I would leave the impression of being an ‘unbeliever’ and I will stand in judgement for all of it. I cringe at the language that abounds in public today. When President Trump said that all the impeachment upheaval was “B—S—“, I was shocked, but it doesn’t change my mind about who he is in God’s eyes. In God’s eyes, Donald John Trump is ‘a man after his own heart’, just as any man or woman elected to office.  Even all those who worked so hard in the attempt to impeach him, even they are chosen by God. I believe every election results in what the Creator wants and every individual elected deserves my respect, not necessarily as a person, but as a person seated in authority. It is difficult for me to follow this teaching. I am disgusted with  those who so ardently dislike my President. I ask forgiveness for my reaction to those who served on the prosecution side of the Impeachment Hearings. I have a deep dislike for the support of abortion, homosexuality, transgender, socialism, communism, terrorism or anti-Americanism, and have difficulty ‘loving’ those who publically practice and support same, but I try. I believe it possible to ‘love’ the person and ‘hate’ the sin. And I do believe all of this is SIN. It violates the very core principal set forth by God. It doesn’t make sense to the worldly, but as for me and mine, we serve the Lord and it isn’t easy if we are concerned with what the world thinks. I am a died-in-the-wool fan of Trey Gowdy and am disappointed that he will no longer serve in Washington, but recently I heard his reasons and they make perfect sense. He said, “To do so meant that I would destroy friendships”.  I certainly understand that fact. Over the past few years, my ‘circle of friends’ has diminished greatly. I pray it is for the right reason. I pray that it is due to the fact that I talk truth about who Jesus Christ is in my life. I pray that is the only reason. I can only pray that to be so and continue to lift the shade on life. No brag, just the facts, m’am. God’s LOVE negates the SINister minister’s hate, everytime. I LOVE YOU!    And that’s what I get from MY box of chocolates.  AMEN

  1. As my mother-in-law was fond of quoting,
“There is so much good in the worst of us,
And so much bad in the best of us,
That it hardly behooves any of us
To talk about the rest of us.” -Edward Wallis Hoch

Jim, I have to agree with you about the use of foul language by our society. You have 24+ years on me but I know when I was growing up, if I’d dared use some of the language (even in the privacy of home) I hear on the airwaves or see on the internet, my mother would’ve literally washed my mouth out with soap! And it very well might have been lye soap!!! The lowest members of society in the Deep South (that’s translated trashy folks, white, black, red, or anything in between) didn’t even talk that way in their home environments for the same reasons. Their parents would’ve made their backsides so warm they wouldn’t have been able to sit down for a week! The F word may have been in the dictionary but it wasn’t in the vernacular or vocabulary!
