Scripture says, “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good work and glorify your Lord in Heaven.” Tom Hanks and I share an epiphany. Mine was when I portrayed John Proctor in “The Crucible” at Stage Center in Bryan many years ago. Tom’s happened during his portrayal of Fred Rogers. When a role takes hold of your soul, there is a sense of belonging. It just feels right and, for years afterwards, you find you are reacting to situations as the person you portrayed would react. Perhaps you have found that to be true in your own life. You suddenly recall a scene in a movie or television show that fits the moment. Take pleasure in that, just for that brief moment, you have paid tribute to another and it is most precious when you find yourself being “Christlike”. I am convinced that God just smiled and thought “Well Done”. I do not know Tom Hanks, personally, but I do believe him to be a genuine individual who is utilizing God’s gift to God’s glory. That is true humility in theater. and in life. And that’s what I get from MY box of chocolates. AMEN
