Forgiveness Requires Divine Action

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Collossians 3:13)

To forgive each other is totally impossible for all of us. We dwell in the excitement of resentment for much too long. We ‘glory’ in hurt and feed on resentment. Jesus taught ‘Forgiveness’ and lived it for His entire life. Scripture tells the story of the sacrifice of the “God/man”. The Book of Isaiah lays it out very cleary.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all”. (Isaiah 53:5-6)

There is no greater forgiveness known to man.

There is no way man can do this in his own strength. There will always be a remnant of animosity that rises and overwhelms love. It’s the love of hurt that brings the biggest difficulties. What Jesus Christ suffered is far greater that anything you and I will experience. We are pained by simple things, but My Lord bore blame for every sin committed by every person for all time. I can’t do it alone and neither can you. Not one person alive today can do so without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ. Once you have this, you are never alone. Never!

It is ALL a matter of FAITH, donchaknow. Really.

And, that’s what I get from MY box of chocolates.   AMEN
