Honestly Earnest

I don’t hear “Pretty is as Pretty DOES”, anymore. We spend too much time at the mirror, donchaknow. It is easy to understand just why. Makeup covers a bunch of flaws. Plastic surgery is illicit!  More often than not, the results are either hideously obvious or confusingly different. Appearance has all our attention. I believe “well groomed” to be the best philosophy, but God has the last word on the subject and He inspired Solomon’s wisdom and Solomon wrote this in Proverbs:

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”   (Proverbs 31:30)

“Fear” in the Bible does not mean what many believe. When we ‘fear’ God, we ‘believe’ and honor His word. Think about it! Haven’t you ever met someone who is not pretty, but there is something about them that pleases and comforts you? I have and it is thrilling to look deeper at each other. That which is inside is more precious than what hangs outside, IF Jesus lives there. Charm is cotton candy and beauty is smoke. It’s Christ-controlled-inner-Spirit that lasts for good, forever.  And, that’s what I get from MY box of chocolates.  AMEN
