My Obituary could read:
“Over two decades of successful teaching in public and private schools, nationwide; over fifty years of part-time-full-time broadcasting, nationwide, inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2001; over five decades as full-or-part-time church staff member and years of successful participation in dramatic and musical theater including the four-year run of National Tour II, Houston Company of ‘The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas'”.
All of it is nothing but ‘clatter’. All my success is as meaningless as the hyphen between the dates on a tombstone. Nothing I have accomplished matters eternally, donchaknow.
We spend our lives struggling and straining for fame and fortune. We stand for nothing without Christ Jesus. Paul said it best in the Book of Romans:
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-24)
That ‘ALL’ means everything we do is simply nothing without Christ Jesus as our Savior! To some that means life is simply futile so why even try to do right and that’s their own business. God gave each of us ‘free will’ to choose how we should live and will never change that fact. HE had every intention to leave it up to mankind, just who HE is. HE made us ‘human’ and gave us responsibility to manage the earth and all its content. HE made Adam and Eve perfect in every way. I have shared that I believe the first love song was sung by Adam when he awakened for a deep sleep and saw the gorgeous creature he named “EVE”! Everything WAS beautiful. Then, came the Sinister Minister in the form of a beautiful serpent and everything went to Hell. You and I were born in SIN and our lives controlled by human nature influenced by that same snake. Without Christ we are lost and all the good things we do matters not a whit without acceptance of the Greatest Gift known to man. That’s God’s Gift of Faith in His only Son and that Son’s ultimate sacrifice on a cruel cross, bearing ALL the sin of the world. Intelligence tells us ‘it ain’t so’, but smarts are dangerous, donchaknow. Too many are simply educated idiots in the final analysis. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16)
That’s ALL and that’s what I get from MY box of chocolates. AMEN
