Music of Life

Somebody has said, “You let me write the songs that a nation sings, and I don’t care who makes its laws.”  I recall saying something like this back in the 60’s. The Beatles were very popular and their music smashed all the records of sales and play. Their freewheeling lifestyle concerned me and I warned of what I feared would be the result. The Bible describes Satan and cunning and dangerously beautiful. The suggestive lyrics of some of the Beatles hits completed the Sinister Minister’s introduction to drugs, donchaknow. The appealing melodies will always be popular. That’s what Satan planned and when you hear what is described as ‘music’ today, you get the picture. Disco destroys. Rap is not music. It is simply rhythmic alliteration and certainly isn’t ‘beautiful’, is it? I don’t hear America Singing and it breaks my heart. Vincent Youmans wrote a great message to all of us when he penned the lyrics to “Without a Song’. It will be worth your time to check it out. God gave us our first Love Song when Adam awakened and saw Eve.

Parents! Pay close attention to the music that comes out of the earbuds on the precious ears of your children and grandchildren. Be cautious of what is on iPhones and iPads. My grandson gave me a very  exciting game called “Ghost Recon” some years back. It became an addiction. (not his fault, but my own, donchaknow) I discovered that all that blood and gore made ‘killing’ fulfilling. Not Good. Not Good at all. Perhaps our unlawfulness is really due to what is written in the lyrics of our lives. That’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates.  AMEN
