I have written much about this Husky. She is a very special friend who requires much observation. this breed is not for the elderly faint of heart, donchakno. I met my first Husky while enjoying lemonade in Austin, Texas with my past friend, Bill Arhos. The look on his face told me what I felt to be true as he looked past my shoulder with wide-eyes and whispered, “Don’t Move!”. Then I felt what he was concerned about. Resting on my left shoulder was the snout of a huge Siberian Husky Male who came to visit from next door. There was just enough pressure to tell me, “Careful, Stranger”, and I was. Very slowly the pressure lessened and equally slowly, I turned to look into the bluest eyes I had ever seen. This dog must have weighed over 75-pounds and was gorgeous! He stood quietly and allowed me to gently rub his chest. (They love that, donchaknow) He then looked across the table at Bill, turned and sauntered home. I was hooked! I knew right then that ‘someday’ I would have one of those regal animals. I settled for an elkhound and ‘Thor’ was a gentle giant of great intelligence. Easily trained and obedient. Well, last year, I determined to fulfill my dream of a Siberian Husky. We found one on the internet and drove just a few miles north of Plano to check her out. It was very dark and we couldn’t find the house. So, the next day we received a photo of “KayGee” and was in love. The breeder was kind enough to bring the pup and a crate to Linda’s work site and we got our Husky. “KayGee” was named after Crystal Gayle, the popular singer. She had a brown eye AND a blue eye and thus Miss Gayle’s bit hit was placed on her. (I didn’t want to insult the lady so I used ‘K’ instead of ‘C’).
I had my Husky! We enrolled her in K-9U Academy and she was the “Class Favorite”. She weighed 8-pounds and was just darling. Now, she weighs just over 40-pounds and is still darling, but also a ‘terror’. WARNING! “Do Not get one of these pups unless you can spend a great deal of time “Playing”! And, they are not good ‘apartment pets’. We send her to “Doggie-Day-Care” once a week and that wears her out as depicted in the photo. A Husky ‘chews’, so find a ‘chew toy’ that will take a lot of action. The KONG bone has space in each end to allow treats to be inserted. That keeps her busy and is a blessing.Linda’s little ‘mix’, LUX and I love my Husky (she really is Linda’s Husky) and am learning to spend some time at ‘fetch’. Had I done my research, I probably would have chosen another Pomeranian, but she’s what I wanted and she’s what I got. Praise God! As soon as I get another job(HO HO) she will ‘go to school’ every day, donchaknow. And, that’s what I get From My Box of Chocolates. AMEN
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18
Sam Austin taught me well. Not so much in what he said, but just how he did. He always did his best. His ‘doings’ are still around today. He never drove a nail crooked. Never! He never put the key to a house in the hand of anyone that wasn’t the best house anyone could make into a home, donchaknow. My Daddy was a “Love-in-Action”. No son could ask for more. But, I am sorry to say, “I did”. I studied his flaws for such a long time, I missed the blessing of his spiritual essence. But, Praise God, not any more! I am so very proud of my Daddy today. He struggled with demons, just as I have. I know from personal experience just how difficult that is. Obviously, my own son seems to have overcome the demons as a respected business leader. I have an idea just how much effort that took and I applaud him in his victory. And, my girls, well, their evidence of ‘firm faith’ is quite on display. We all had to overcome disappointment in each other. Disappointments that the Sinister Minister blended into the family mix. (Much of the power to do so comes from those God places in our lives, donchaknow) No More! I know my family’s spiritual health is good today., because “they love with actions and truth”! The fact is evident every day. If you haven’t told your precious children just how much they have blessed your life, then time’s a’wasting!
That’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates. AMEN
Who are ‘pollsters’ asking? I use the internet exclusively for just about everything and except for one Arbitron poll back in the fifties, I’ve never been asked ‘my opinion’ about any issue. (I couldn’t respond since I was in the industry) Have You?
I would like to know just who these people ‘sample’ for their poll. It appears that the query goes to a pre-selected segment of the population, especially if it’s about our President. Do you truly believe the numbers spouted as to the “WALL”? How can any thinking citizen NOT favor protection from ‘illegals’? I’ve heard it said that most polls express opinions of non-English speaking and those who, “If their brain, loaded with C-4, exploded at once it wouldn’t even ripple their hair”. That sounds rather tacky to me, but something is wrong. How can a majority of folks who overwhelmingly support our President not show up in poll after poll?
‘Tis a Puzzlement, donchaknow. Really! I would really like to know if any of “my friends” have ever been included in one of these ‘Polls’. And if any ‘pollster’ is tuned in here, put your name and number in “Comments” and I will call and enroll. My dance card is very empty these days and I have all the time in the world to respond, donchaknow. Really. And, that’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates. May the Lord Bless You and Keep You. AMEN
“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. – Colossians 2:8
I once heard a story about a first-grader who handed his teacher a note on the first day of school. It read, “The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents.” I thought that story was funny, but it also got me thinking about our heavenly Father. Perhaps He sometimes feels like pinning that note to some Christians.
It’s so important that we represent God accurately! And one way to do this is by avoiding what I call beliefs of unhealthy faith. Here are a few examples: “When tragedy strikes, true believers should have real peace about it.” Does that mean if someone really close to you suddenly dies in a tragic accident that I should feel at ease and at peace? That’s crazy!
How about this one: “Material blessings are a sign of spiritual strength.” So men like Hugh Hefner, who created the Playboy empire, is a spiritual giant? I don’t think so! And here’s a real classic: “More than anything else, God wants me to be happy.” Help me find that passage in Scripture.
Be careful of these simple little proverbs that people try to pass off on you as Spiritual truths. Read and study God’s word regularly so you can discern statements of an unhealthy faith.
– Steve Arterburn
We need the gift of discernment again in our pulpits. It is not ability to predict that we need, but the anointed eye, the power of spiritual penetration and interpretation, the ability to appraise the religious scene as viewed from God’s position, and to tell us what is actually going on. – A.W. Tozer”
Appalling as it may seem, there are ‘candidates’ for high office who spout hatred and promise to do away with wounded warriors and the elderly. (I believe there were those running for office in the last election who’s agenda was the same) Listening to campaign rhetoric should make it easy to know who is whom, donchaknow. Political Party or not, I will never vote for evil-spirited Hatemongers! In the first place, should they be elected, and do as they wish to wounded and old, has it not occurred to them that they, too, could end up as “one-of-those”? How dumb can you get? As time goes on, it will be much easier to ‘know who is the best person for office, ’cause they will reveal their hearts in all the excitement of the campaign. All we must do is ‘listen’. The Sinister Minister is wiley, but not a threat when one approaches decisions with a righteous heart and that doesn’t come from natural intellect, news reports nor expert opinion. It only comes from God through His Gift of The Holy Spirit through Faith in Jesus Christ, My Lord! Our only HOPE is through study of Truth and that is only found in The Bible, in a prayer closet, alone with our Maker! I pray that America stops heading in our current direction and returns to the one True GOD. And, that’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates. AMEN
From Jim Denison:
“There’s something about temptation that causes us to think this “sin” warning doesn’t really apply to us. We will get away with it. No one will know, no one will be hurt, no consequences will follow. Or so we think.
Here’s why the temptation to yield to temptation is especially tempting in our culture.
Our post-Christian, relativistic society has jettisoned the concept of absolute truth and morality. In such a worldview, “sin” is a subjective idea rather than an objective reality.
What the Bible calls a “baby” (as when Elizabeth’s “baby leaped in her womb,” Luke 1:41), Planned Parenthood calls a “product of conception.” What the Bible calls “men committing shameless acts with men” (Romans 1:27), our culture calls “marriage equality.”
As a result, sins are no longer objectively sinful. It’s easier for Satan to tempt us to sin if we don’t believe in sin.”
I believe people think, “There is no such thing as the devil”. If this is true, then blame broken families, churches,Universities and public schools. Where is the evidence of change-of-heart following today’s worship services? People applaud Charlie Stanley on Sunday morning, but we don’t see an ‘alter call’. Invitation is given, briefly and on to a promotional announcement about a coming “cruise”. Preachers don’t break a sweat anymore. Men wear ties to service, but there’s no evidence of the “Tie That Binds”. “Fasting” has been replaced by weight loss television ads.
We stand in the need of prayer, but when I invited just one or two to join me for my ZOOM prayer wheel, I was all alone. I joined the 8PM-Central nightly prayer and I have no idea as to its success.
There is absolutely nothing more we can do, but follow this verse of scripture:
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
And, that’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates. AMEN
