Call of the Wiley

I recall a cartoon character named “Wiley Coyote”. Not too smart was he. I’ve just received my 12th call from “Some Senior Something or Someone”, welcoming me to Medicare. Half of these voices greet me as if I have just turned 65 and ‘they have some very exciting information about health care. The other half disconnect without saying anything. Other than an occasional call from a family member, the only other calls I’ve received are from DirecTV asking when I will ‘reconnect’. That’s been going on for over two years. With caller ID, I could ignore all these folks, but at my age it’s fun to see if my Bluetooth headset really works. Throughout all this activity, I wonder just how accurate our records are with the governmental agencies. Surely there are not hundreds of folk sitting at a switchboard interrupting my soaps and football. ‘Tis a Puzzlement, donchaknow, really. Oh! and one more thing. My former Pastor, Jerry Barber, out in North Carolina is preaching on prayers that end “In Jesus’ Name” and that interests me a bunch. I hear it just before “Amen” a lot today. I pray that Jerry is filled and overflowing come Sunday. He’s just smart enough to come away with some jewels. That’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates.  AMEN
