Kenny Rogers had a popular song about poker. I’ve thought so often of that song and applied to my life. I’ve failed to “fold ’em” when I should, too many times. Life is just one ‘uh-oh’ after another, donchaknow. As today dawns, I think of how easy it would be to be an “April Fool” all year long. Holding a winning hand hasn’t been a majority experience for me, yet I took a chance. Sin makes an April Fool out of us all and how often depends on our obedience. GOD does provide the necessary courage and strength to overcome temptation, but it isn’t automatic. HE has never held my hands to my side, nor tied my tongue, but HE has promised to stop us from being foolish, if we only listen. When young, we pulled April Fool’s pranks and it was great sport. I’ve gotten a bit smarter, but it’s taken more than eighty years to do so. For you who are still growing older, gracefully, I pray that you save yourself from being a year-round April Fool. Be still and LISTEN. If you are a Child of GOD, HE will suggest the best alternative. It is also a good practice to study HIS WORD in preparation for the bumps in life’s road, donchaknow. That’s what I get from My Box of Chocolates. AMEN
