Christmas isn’t always ‘Merry’. Unfortunately too many are expecting a guarantee of Joy and Happiness during this time of the year. But, alas, many are experiencing sadness since life is dealing a ‘busted flush’. Unless the ‘Merry and Joyous and Happy’ is a result of knowing the truth of the reason for the season, one’s exuberance is short-lived. The emptiness that accompanies what little fun there be, far overshadows, with more darkness than light. In many households, the fun and excitement is over the minute the gift wrap is stuffed in a garbage bag. Hope and Peace of mind, is not found in ‘worldly’ pleasures, donchaknow. In his “Love Worth Finding” website, Pastor Adrian Rogers posted JESUS’ promise in Hebrews:
“I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). When I’m discouraged, His presence sees me through. When I’m lonely His presence cheers me up. When I’m worried, His presence calms me down. And when I am tempted, His presence will help me out. Write down the last portion of this devotional thought and personalize it. Now use it as a prayer of faith and trust.
