Humility is for Heroes

When we describe someone as ‘meek’ or ‘humble’, we might classify them as and ‘easy mark’. Boy, is that a mistake! Everything I read about JESUS describes HIM as meek and certainly ‘humble’. Otherwise HE would have blasted those who were determined to put HIM to death. When a Christian is “Christlike” there must not be a sense of arrogance or strutting around. It means to be surrendered to the calling of GOD; to be obedient and submissive. Of course, the world will take this as weakness, but the world would wiggle, whimper, weep and wet their knickers if faced with the ultimate sacrifice made for everyone by the most heroic man who ever walked this earth. We praise a quarterback who “stands in there” when under seige by behemoth men of defense. I am certain that JESUS would do that better and even get up saying, “Bless you, my son”. The degree of courage and strength of CHRIST was equal to HIS humility and meekness. Read Phillipians 2 beginning with verse 4:

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[b] being born in the likeness of men.And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (ESV)

Talk about being on the WINNING team!  There is an old hymn that says, “Be not discouraged, what’ere betide, GOD will take care of you.”  HIS WAY is our only way and the quicker we realize the fact, the better off we will be.  That’s what comes from my Box of Chocolates, donchaknow.  AMEN
