We Have Met the Enemy and He is Us! I miss Pogo! That comic strip was packed with powerful insights. We ARE our own worst enemy, donchaknow. And, “What is an Enemy”, you ask. Simply put, the enemy is anyone (or anything who-or-that) threatens life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness, right? Is it wrong to know fear? Perhaps not, but to surrender to that fear, now that’s different. FDR said, “The greatest thing to fear is fear, itself”. The biggest fear, I believe, is the fear of the unknown and the biggest unknown, that scares the wax out of people was demonstrated in the big hit by Peggy Lee, “Is That All There Is?” When I was on-air, every time I played it, I experienced discomfort. It saddened me to think that folks agreed with the question. The Christian knows that there is more and does not need to fear…anything. God’s Grace and Mercy gives us a lifetime guarantee of care. Belief in Our Lord Jesus Christ gives us the much greater guarantee. That one is ETERNAL! If the greatest fear is not knowing what happens when it’s all over, then as a Child of God, we must face the unkown, unafraid, and laugh in the face of Death! Amen? AMEN!
